Ebeltoft Wildflower Challenge

Wildflower x 3

This week we have 3 different versions of Ebeltoft’s Wildflower on tap – each of them is the usual great wildflower recipe but with one difference – each of these has been made using a different type of yeast….

….and we are trying to figure out which one people prefer. So, we are giving away sets of 3 free samples for you to try…

One is made with Barbican yeast, one with Chico (US1801) and the other with London (UK1028).

So, if you have a little free time this week, drop in and give them a try – lets us know which is your favourite ….

Anarchy Brew Co (UK)

Tap Take Over & Tasting

Well, its soon time to kick off 2019 with the first of some great events for our beer loving customers.

The first event on the books is going to be an evening with beer from Anarchy Brew Co. Anarchy are based in Newcastle and have been brewing since 2012, initially concentrating on cask conditioned ales. Over the years since they have grown and have produced over 20 wildly different beers.

From citrusy session beers, to kiwi and lime loaded IPA’s and coffee infused stouts they continue to strive to improve.

The Beers

We have secured 8 different beers from them, including a couple of award winners:

Straight Jacket: 3.6% Session Pale Ale – A beer that is packed with flavour, punching well above its weight. Big american hops bring this beer to life. This beer is easy drinking and always goes down well with Lager drinkers.

Tyne and Fear : 4% Tropical Pale Ale – This beer was made in collaboration with a local roller derby team. The flavour combination of tropical fruits with a refreshing crisp finish brings together a great clash of senses to the drinker.

Blonde Star: 4.1% Blonde – Our best seller locally. The blonde star showcases our house yeast flavour, and is a beer that was made for the traditional blonde drinker who is willing to dive into the uncharted waters that is/was the “craft beer culture.”

Exile: 4.9% Gluten Free Pale Ale – Exile is our first Gluten free beer. In collaboration with ‘Exile’ motorcycles in California, this is a great tasting pale that most recently won “Best Gluten Free Beer of UK of 2018” from the World Beer Awards. You can’t even tell its gluten free.

SMASH: 5% Single Malt and Single Hop – This beer is part of a new series we have started in 2019. It aims to showcase the greatness of simplicity, and what can be achieved by using one type of malt and one type of hop. This first edition uses Marris Otter Extra Pale malt, and, Cashmere hop. Delivering a herbal infused aroma which can take form of lemon, lime or melon flavour.

Boot Boys: 5% Brown Ale – A Newcastle favorite, the brown ale. This style put Newcastle on the beer map, and our take on the style exposes the classic flavour of caramel malts and a nutty finish.

Cult Leader: 5.5% Mosaic Pale Ale – Mosaic is a very versatile hop that marries well with many other hops. Given its popular demand amongst brewers, we thought it worthy of making a beer that simply exhibits what mosaic can do on its own. It’s a great local favorite, and it made it to our core beer range.

Antivenom: 6% IPA – This beer speaks for itself when it won “Best IPA of the UK 2017” in the World Beer Awards. In very few words, it can be described as an alcoholic tropical fruit juice. Very clean finish.

Join us, Thursday, 7 Feb 2019

Come and join us for a great evening, the beers will be on tap from kl. 16 –  you will have the opportunity to try each of these great beers at a special price of just 129kr or 99kr for DØE members.

Highland Park & Orkney tasting

med Peter S. Nielsen
