Anarchy Brew Co (UK)

Tap Take Over & Tasting

Well, its soon time to kick off 2019 with the first of some great events for our beer loving customers.

The first event on the books is going to be an evening with beer from Anarchy Brew Co. Anarchy are based in Newcastle and have been brewing since 2012, initially concentrating on cask conditioned ales. Over the years since they have grown and have produced over 20 wildly different beers.

From citrusy session beers, to kiwi and lime loaded IPA’s and coffee infused stouts they continue to strive to improve.

The Beers

We have secured 8 different beers from them, including a couple of award winners:

Straight Jacket: 3.6% Session Pale Ale – A beer that is packed with flavour, punching well above its weight. Big american hops bring this beer to life. This beer is easy drinking and always goes down well with Lager drinkers.

Tyne and Fear : 4% Tropical Pale Ale – This beer was made in collaboration with a local roller derby team. The flavour combination of tropical fruits with a refreshing crisp finish brings together a great clash of senses to the drinker.

Blonde Star: 4.1% Blonde – Our best seller locally. The blonde star showcases our house yeast flavour, and is a beer that was made for the traditional blonde drinker who is willing to dive into the uncharted waters that is/was the “craft beer culture.”

Exile: 4.9% Gluten Free Pale Ale – Exile is our first Gluten free beer. In collaboration with ‘Exile’ motorcycles in California, this is a great tasting pale that most recently won “Best Gluten Free Beer of UK of 2018” from the World Beer Awards. You can’t even tell its gluten free.

SMASH: 5% Single Malt and Single Hop – This beer is part of a new series we have started in 2019. It aims to showcase the greatness of simplicity, and what can be achieved by using one type of malt and one type of hop. This first edition uses Marris Otter Extra Pale malt, and, Cashmere hop. Delivering a herbal infused aroma which can take form of lemon, lime or melon flavour.

Boot Boys: 5% Brown Ale – A Newcastle favorite, the brown ale. This style put Newcastle on the beer map, and our take on the style exposes the classic flavour of caramel malts and a nutty finish.

Cult Leader: 5.5% Mosaic Pale Ale – Mosaic is a very versatile hop that marries well with many other hops. Given its popular demand amongst brewers, we thought it worthy of making a beer that simply exhibits what mosaic can do on its own. It’s a great local favorite, and it made it to our core beer range.

Antivenom: 6% IPA – This beer speaks for itself when it won “Best IPA of the UK 2017” in the World Beer Awards. In very few words, it can be described as an alcoholic tropical fruit juice. Very clean finish.

Haze Jane is back & AB:25 on tap

ITS ANOTHER BREWDOG WEEK !

Yes, you heard correct – its true, Haze Jane is on its way back to the taps at Highlanders. Haze Jane has been one of the most popular new beers this year, and a fresh delivery just arrived.

We have also got a keg from Brewdogs Abstract range, AB:25. This barley wine has spent 6 months maturing on bourbon barrels and comes in at a little over 13% ABV !!

On top of all that, we have Mercurial Milk, a collab beer between To-Øl and Brewdog.

To round it all off, there is a little bit of our favourite christmas BrewDog – “Get Out Claus!”, Native Son, and the new Totem Red Ale.

Keep an eye on our UNTAPPD page to see when we put the beers on tap !!

Uiltje Craft Beer at Highlanders

Another new brewery to feature at Highlanders Bar, Aarhus right now is Uiltje Craft Beer – their mission statement is “To make great f**** beer” – your mission, is to try them !

Its almost tempting to make up a little story using the names of these beers !

Oktoberfest ? Nah, we are going the extra mile…

Oktoberfest

Traditionally, october is the month where we pull on our lederhosen, grab a massive tankard and skål to great (and some not so great) german beers….

Well, in Aarhus, we already have a great german bier bar, and if now is not the time to take a walk up the hill and visit them, well, when is…. time allowing I will drop in and empty a stein or two..

At Highlanders Bar, we like to be different, we like to think outside the box and bring you something special – so this October we have gone the extra mile…. well, few miles… and instead of bringing you a line up of german beer, we found something from a little further south – yes, you got it – we have some great belgian beers for you to try this week.

This years first shipment of freshly kegged Chimay Blue (RateBeer 100/100) just arrived, and we could not see that sitting all by itself – so, we found some Chimay White (tripple) and Chimay Gold  (Doree) to join it. Then, when you thought it was all over, we also have some Rodenbach Vintage (RateBeer 100/100) on tap too.

….and if its all just too good, we have plenty of other fine craft beers on tap, bottles and cans !!

Drop by this week and give them a try !

If you have a DØE membership, flash your card at the bar this THURSDAY and get yourself a small Rodenback Vintage for just 20kr !

Drop in over this next week and give them a try, we have their flagship american pale ale “Citra Pale Ale” on tap (whilst it lasts!).

Brewed with finest German & Belgian malts, fermented with american ale yeast and dry hopped to the gills with Citra.

Hopped In Space – 5.5%

Brewed with Red X, Vienna, Munich, Pilsner and Cara Clair. Mandarina Bavaria was used in the whirlpool, and its dry hopped with planet-sized amounts of Simcoe and Summit. A great hazy West Coast style IPA bursting with citrus.

On the Fritz – 4.5%

Session IPA brewed with the finest German and Beligan malts, dry hopped with Huell Melon give this beer loads of frsh pine aromas.

Kellerbier – 4.6%

German style “Helles” lager, unfiltered which results in a naturally cloudy beer with a smooth, slightly sweeter finish than you might be used to with other lagers.

We look forward to more of the beers from Yellowbelly in the near future. We are also working with Yellowbelly and their danish importers to organise a tap takeover event in the near future.

The new cans will soon be available on our Klik’n’Kollect web shop – so if you don’t have time to stay and try a couple, then you can simply order and collect !
